So now that they have exclusive rights to rounded corners, that great big innovator (chuckle) Apple wants the rights to words. They are in the middle of a lawsuit with Amazon and the use of the phrase ‘app store’ or ‘appstore’ or any word with an -app in it. I am just kidding on that last one, although watch out ‘happy,’ you could be next!
Seriously, Apple either believes or just wants us to believe they can have exclusive rights on the most common of things. Ridiculous. This is seriously starting to get quite monopolistic. All I need to do is remind you of how Microsoft packaged IE back in the day…and you all remember what happened–they ended up being on the hook for millions to schools for monopolistic behavior.
I just hope some judges begin to use common sense. App stores are a commonplace thing in the 21st century. You sell apps, you therefore need a store. Apple did not coin the term apps, we have used it a a shortened way of saying applications on the PC side for years, therefore they should not get to use app store.
