When in the fourth grade classroom, students in my class received the privilege to play Roller Coaster Tycoon at times. In my opinion, and in opinions of others, I felt that game taught many things such as long and short range planning, creative thinking, and higher ordered thinking.
So in a review of Airport Mania, I also think those lessons can be taught in a fun way. In Airport Mania, you plan the role as the Traffic controller, having to land planes, send them to their gates, gas them up, repair them, and send them on their way. All while trying to keep them early or on time to earn money you will use to upgrade gates, add more runways, and buy other perks. So a player must first keep calm under stress. A definite objective for students. They must refine their quick thinking and planning, as they land planes and always think a move or two ahead, much like chess. They must reason why buying an upgraded gate would be worth more than an upgraded layover space. Lots of great lessons in this game. For $0.99, a definite good purchase!
