So…pretty quiet week, eh? Not much going on. Nothing except the Kindle Fire, which was compared as an entry level tablet and an iPad killer all in the same breath. While it definitely does not touch the specs of an iPad or higher end Android tablet, I think the Fire definitely fills a void, even possibly for schools. Of course Amazon will need to start accepting purchase orders, but I can see schools interested.
Now the question remains if Amazon is already busy working on a more powerful tablet, submitting the Fire as a placeholder to get into the market. The specs on this were pretty unimpressive. Running 2.1, their own locked down apps, and no Google apps in sight. Hopefully a Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich version will come soon with more functionality and flexibility.
