Recently attended North Carolina’s only education technology conference, NCTIES, in Raleigh. Overall a little disappointed in the lack of sessions on good, open source software and devices. One session on Android, where I did learn about some neat apps, one session on Picasa, and that was about it. On the brightside, even with a few iOS/Apple sessions, it seemed the number of total sessions in general were down. The economy and tight budgets definitely appeared to keep people away, both attending and presenting.
What I did notice was the variety of devices. Particularly in the Android session, I saw Chromebooks, Xoom tablets, Galaxy tablets–quite a wide mix. Very exciting to see lots of Android out there. We may need to do a presentation next year. Be on the lookout for that. Also, we will be reviewing some of the things we learned in future posts.
