Got My Nook!

Unpacking My Nook...

There it is…my new Barnes and Noble’s Nook!  I unboxed it last night and read a few articles and guides on it so far.  Currently, I only have a preview of a Scott Sigler book (he posted to my blog–how cool was that!), Dracula, a Jane Austen, and a sample of King’s The Dark Tower III.  I read some of those, just to get a feel for the eInk on the Nook.   I must say, as a first bit of feedback, the Nook is smaller than I thought, but I do like the size.  The buttons make sense and work well.  No real complaints yet.  I also like having the option of either wifi or using AT&T’s 3G network.  And the big surprise using AT&T–NO cost and NO setup.  Once I turned it on, it connected quickly and I could surf the B&N store.

This will only represent the first of many posts regarding the nook.  My plan is to explore it for use in our schools, primarily in our Distance Learning programs.  We figure, yes, we face a high front charge in the beginning, but maybe we can offset that and save money in the long run with the literature needed.  Time will tell.

Time to go read…
