Welcome to this new resource to support educators and policy makers in looking at Open Source tools. While much in available online in regards to Open Source, much of it does not have the actual classroom feel to it, so I hope to do that here through the use of open source application demos, news, opinions, and more.

Hi Chris. I read your wonderful article in Full Circle Mag. I’m writing to make you aware of an emerging Linux distro designed with high school and college students in mind. You can check out ÜberStudent 0.9 at http://uberstudent.org. Obviously, as version 0.9, there are still issues to work out but I think you will be very pleased not only with what we are trying to do but the distro at this point. Check it out! – Regards, Stephen Ewen
Thanks, Stephen! I am going to take a look at UberStudent. Sounds like a great project. Our ‘FCSbuntu’ distro is geared toward our K-5 students, so I am really excited to take a look at 9-12+ geared distro. I appreciate the heads up!
